September 2019 has been the month for hosting many vocational trainings under Erasmus+ in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. INTERMOBEX is constantly growing its capacity to arrange vocational traineeships in different professional sectors, thanks to several partnerships with local companies. The strong collaborations established on the territory allow our organisation to ensure our foreign learners to have a training experience fully in line with their studies and to gain job expertise during their stay in Gran Canaria.

This time we had the pleasure to welcome a group of 18 young Electronics and IT students from the Zespół Szkół Elektronicznych w Rzeszowie, a vocational school in Poland with a long-lasting experience in Erasmus+ mobilities.
It was the first traineeship abroad for these young Polish students, aged between 17 and 19 years old, and they were therefore very excited about it. The fact to have the Canary Islands as scenario for their 3-weeks traineeship made the happening even more adventurous for them.
The first days of stay were quite intense because of a fully immersive Spanish course provided by INTERMOBEX, as the linguistic preparation was a necessary requisite to acquire some basic daily vocabulary and some specific words for their work specialities.

The next step for all them was the First Cognitive Meeting at the host companies: the students were accompanied at their work place, having the opportunity to meet their tutors and colleagues and to discover the training program for the following weeks.
The group was divided into 2 sectoral areas: 10 students of electronics and 8 students of IT, who were received by local companies working in different industries in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

To give some example, IT students were training on assembling and exploiting PCs and peripherals, designing and administering local networks, creating Internet applications and databases, administering databases.
As it often happen, the experiences within the group were different: someone had to face some difficulty, due for example to communication in a foreign language; others had to accomplish tasks that they were not used to; others had to learn how to use new software or tools. In any case, they all learnt a lot and had a satisfying training experience.

In addition to the training, the Polish group had a lot of fun during the cultural activities arranged by INTERMOBEX and provided by our partner tour organisation Handy Visit. That’s why, at the end of the traineeships, the whole group gave a very positive feedback about the experience in Gran Canaria.
We were happy to receive these young and nice students from Poland and to had been part of their first training experience abroad as Erasmus+ students in mobility. It’s always a pleasure for us contributing to the learning and training process of young people, especially when they have big expectations regarding the experience in the foreign country and we are able to satisfy them.
