What is a staff mobility project?
Under Key Action 1 organisations can arrange to send or receive staff to or from participating countries, as well as organise teaching, training, learning activities.
What are the aims of a mobility project?
Mobility projects promote transnational mobility activities for staff (professors, teachers, trainers, youth workers, and people working in organisations active in the education, training and youth fields) and aimed to:
- support the professional development of those who work in education, training and youth with a view to innovating and improving the quality of teaching, training and youth work across Europe;
- enhance notably the participants’ foreign languages competence;
- raise participants’ awareness and understanding of other cultures and countries, offering them the opportunity to build networks of international contacts, to actively participate in society and develop a sense of European citizenship and identity;reinforce synergies and transitions between formal, non-formal education, vocational training, employment and entrepreneurship;
- ensure a better recognition of competencies gained through the learning periods abroad.
Which kind of mobilities are available?
Depending on the profile of participants involved, the following types of mobility projects are supported by Key Action 1 of the Erasmus+ Programme:
- Mobility Project for Higher Education Students and Staff
- Mobility Project for VET Learners and Staff
- Mobility Project for School Education Staff
- Mobility Project for Adult Education staff
MOBILITY PROJECT FOR HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENTS AND STAFF
What is the opportunity?
Erasmus+ offers the opportunity for higher education institutions to send students and staff abroad (in other Programme countries or other Partner countries) to study, teach, or train at participating institutions, as well as to participate in a traineeship.
Which is the duration of the project?
From 2 days (5 days from and to Partner Countries) to 2 months, excluding travel time. In mobility between Programme Countries, the minimum 2 days must be consecutive. In the case of invited staff from enterprises, the minimum duration for mobility between Programme Countries is 1 day. A teaching activity has to comprise a minimum of 8 hours of teaching per week (or any shorter period of stay). If the mobility lasts longer than one week, the minimum number of teaching hours for an incomplete week should be proportional to the duration of that week. The following exceptions apply:
- There is no minimum number of teaching hours for invited staff from enterprises.
- If the teaching activity is combined with a training activity during a single period abroad, the minimum number of hours of teaching per week (or any shorter period of stay) is reduced to 4 hours.
Who can participate?
1. Staff mobility for teaching:
- Staff working in a Programme or Partner Country HEI
- Staff from enterprises invited to teach at an HEI in a Programme or Partner Country
from any enterprise working in a programme or partner country, public or private organisation (not awarded with an ECHE) active in the labour market or in the fields of education, training and youth (including employed doctoral candidates).
2. Staff mobility for training:
- Staff working in a Programme or Partner Country HEI.
MOBILITY PROJECT FOR VET LEARNERS AND STAFF
What is the opportunity?
Erasmus+ offers the opportunity for organisations to send vocational education and training (VET) learners to benefit from training, and for staff to give or receive training.
Which is the duration of the mobility?
- Mobility in VET providers and/or companies abroad: from 2 weeks (i.e. ten working days) to less than 3 months, excluding travel time;
- Long-term mobility in VET providers and/or companies abroad (ErasmusPro): from 3 to 12 months, excluding travel time.
Who can participate?
- VET learners (including apprentices) whose studies typically include work-based learning resident in the country of the sending organisation.
- Persons accompanying VET learners abroad.
- Recent graduates of a VET provider (including former apprentices) may also participate in the activity.
- Recent graduates must undertake their training placement abroad within 12 months after their graduation. For those countries where recent graduates must enrol in obligatory military or civil service after graduation, the period of eligibility for recent graduates will be extended by the duration of that service.
MOBILITY PROJECT FOR SCHOOL EDUCATION STAFF
What is the opportunity?
Erasmus+ offers the opportunity to send or receive school staff for teaching or professional development purposes.
Which is the duration of the mobility?
From 2 days to 2 months, excluding travel time. The minimum 2 days must be consecutive.
Who can participate?
- Staff in charge of school education (teaching and non-teaching, including school managers, heads, etc.), as well as other educational staff (school inspectors, school counsellors, pedagogical advisors, psychologists, etc.) involved in the strategic development of the sending school(s).
- Staff of local or regional school authorities or school coordination bodies leading a national mobility consortium who are involved in school policy, school development, or other activities of strategic importance for the school education sector.
All participants must be in a working relation with the sending organisation.
MOBILITY PROJECT FOR ADULT EDUCATION STAFF
What is the opportunity?
Erasmus+ offers the opportunity for adult education organisations to send or receive adult education staff for teaching assignments, as well as to give or receive training.
Which is the duration of the mobility?
From 2 days to 2 months, excluding travel time. The minimum 2 days must be consecutive.
Who can participate?
- A non-vocational adult education organisation sending its staff abroad;A non-vocational adult education organisation, acting as coordinator of a national mobility consortium of non-vocational adult education organisations.
- Individuals cannot apply directly for a grant.
